Review- Sephora's Smokey Eye Kit
When I received the Smokey Eye Kit from Sephora as a gift from Coutorture Media I thought the kit included makeup, but it happens to be a set of brushes and mascara. Good thing was I've always tried to create the smokey eye look before and bought all the eye shadows to do so, but never had the right tools to create a good look. It would always come out too light and washed out or too heavy and by the end of the night I would get the raccoon look.
I thought what's more glamorous than a smokey eye look for New Years, so I decided it would be the night for me to try Sephora's Smokey Eye Kit. The directions are included in the soft silver faux leather case so it was easy to follow without loosing your place. Unless you're well versed in makeup brushes it's difficult to know what brush to use and where to use them, but this guide kept you on the ball. I used the all over shadow brush to deposit my highlighter shadow (MAC Pigment Color Powder in Vanilla). Then I used the shader brush to apply a shimmery black shadow (MAC Eye Shadow in Black Tied). The next step was to apply a liner using the liner brush. Since I had a pencil liner I skipped using the brush and applied directly. The liner brush is best used with a gel liner in a pot. Following the liner I used the dome brush to smudge the shadow and liner together. I finished it off by curling my eye lashes, applying 2 coats of the mascara, and combed out any clumps.
Overall, the brushes are great quality and the instructions made creating the smokey eye goof proof. It also comes with tips on other color variations to try. It's a great little kit to travel with as well.
