One of the latest collections from MAC Cosmetics is Naughty Nauticals, a blend of blues for the eyes and reds for the lips, just like a naughty pin-up girl. The standout piece from this run is Port Red, an almost-neutral red that works with any skin tone. I’ve seen it on girls of every ethnicity, and it looks amazing with an otherwise bare face. MAC’s classic Red Russian can be a little too red for some complexions, and also bring out the yellow in an olive complexion, but Port Red does just the opposite. Because it’s blue-based without being bright, it simply highlights the warm tone in any complexion.
If you’re down for blue eyeshadow (and who isn’t this summer?), there’s Submarine, a saturated bright blue that isn’t for the weak of heart. If you’re scared of blue shadow, invest in MAC brush 283 and use Submarine (or any bright) as a liner instead. From the Pigments that launched with Naughty Nauticals, I love Bell Bottom Blue, a sheer wash of grey-blue that is a nice alternative to whatever you wear as your contrasting shadow. Pair it with black liner for a night out, or on its own with a douse of bronzer for a lowkey summer-girl look.
Naughty Nautical itself is a dark blue nail polish that speaks volumes and overrides Chanel’s Blue Velvet by miles. The shade is great for short, square nails, and also looks great on your toes with metallic strappy sandals. The entire fleet will want you!
