MAC Cosmetics - Cool Heat Collection

Cool Heat is the latest semi-collection to launch this summer in the world of MAC. It doesn’t seem to be as big of a hit as Neo Sci-Fi and I’m blaming that on the fact that we’re all a sucker for limited edition packaging. There are three products in the collection, but most are re-releases of past items that did well. Slimshine Lipstick was a hit when it launched several months ago, and the new colors are succulent enough to get you through summer with just a bit of bronzer and plumped-up lashes. My favorite is Swelter, which is a blue-based red that is sheer to begin with (as all Slimshines are) and intensifies when layered. If you have dark skin, Gentle Simmer pops like nothing else, with its gold-infused pink hue.
In the eye shadow department, there’s Gulf Stream, a seafoam color that is lovely dusted across the lids when contrasted by black mascara. The other standout is Climate Blue, a velvet-textured shadow that works well as a liner when applied with brush 283 (a MAC store exclusive). It isn’t anywhere near as intense as other blues from the brand, as it’s virtually interchangeable with black liner, so Climate Blue is a good starting place for those ready to dip their toes into the pool of colored shadows and liners.
Turquatic and Turquatic Heat are the two fragrances included in Cool Heat, and while the names are a bit annoying, I have to tell you...both smell hot. MAC perfumes are incredibly affordable, as they ring in at under $30 a pop, so I’m already a fan, but these two scents are a good departure from what I usually wear (lots of vanilla/musk/amber-based scents) without being overly girlie. Too much floral turns me off, but these scents have notes of lotus and blue cedar, making for cool, refreshing scents that pack a bit of heat.
Hmmm...sounds like what I hope my summer turns out to be.
