Dieting and Alcohol: Do I Have to Stop Drinking Completely?

To make a long story short: NO! The key thing to remember is that even if you're drinking something that is supposedly only 5, 10, or 50 calories, they are still calories. Even worse is that they are empty calories. You don't get any of the quality protein, carbs or fats that you want. The whole idea is to drink in moderation. Getting wasted the entire weekend definitely won't help you when you're on a diet, but that doesn't mean you have to stop cold turkey.
Another thing to keep in mind is that a lot of those "girly drinks" you might be fond of often contain a lot sugar. Drink a glass of wine or a bottle of beer every other night.
