Snacks that are good for you and fill you up

One issue that I often have is getting hungry in between meals. Here are 5 healthy and filling snack ideas for you to have on hand just in case you need something in the middle of your day.

1. Popcorn: As long as you don't smother it in salt, butter or caramel then this low-calorie and filling snack is something you should definitely look into.

2. Oatmeal: Oatmeal has a lot of quality fiber and will keep you full for a lot longer than most foods. If you think plain oatmeal is bland try using cinnamon or berries to add some flavor. Not only is it a good snack, but it's a great way to start out your day.

3. Soup: Most soups contain mostly water so they will be very filling. Try making your own soup rather than buying it in a can- store bought soups often have too much salt, plus it's cheaper to do it yourself (and have plenty of leftovers).

4. Fruit Salad: How could you go wrong with fruit? They taste good, it's good for you AND it will fill you up without all the extra sugars and calories that come with regular snack foods. If you choose fruits that are in season you'll find that you don't have to add extra sugars to the mix.

5. Raw Vegetables: They are quick and easy. Throw some mini carrots in a lunch bag and you've got a great snack alternative to the bag of chips in the vending machine down the hall. If you don't like eating your veggies plain try salsa or low-fat ranch dip.
