Get Katty - Kat Von D's New Makeup Line

katvond_01.jpg Kat Von D was introduced to the world a few years ago via an A&E reality series. Like the zillion and one other reality stars, we start to feel like we actually know these people (and if their show is at all real, I guess we sort of do). It’s no wonder Kat and company decided to jump on that and market the heck out of her extreme makeup look. Apparently, Kat is as good with an eyeliner wand as she is with a tattoo gun, and she’s put a little of her LA rockabilly flavor into each of her new products.

Teaming with Sephora, Kat has created a small arsenal of, what we can assume, are her own go-to beauty needs. After all, black liquid liner isn’t an everyday thing for all of us, but because Kat knows liquid liner best, she created Autograph eyeliner. I’m not sure where any of these hokey names come from, but do your best to keep your lunch down as you hear them.

There’s Painted Love lipstick (clever, no?), True Romance eyeshadow palettes in color sets such as Ludwig and Beethoven, and my personal fave, the Kat Eye brush tool set. Despite their “quirky” names, the products do seem to achieve the Kat Von D look. At a recent event at Sephora, a sales associate instructed clients to sweep the liquid liner upwards to create that signature cat eye. It seemed easy enough for the model who was trying it, but wasn’t quite as precise as Kat’s. I’m sure the model hadn’t been practicing the technique for years, of course. The brush set is a bargain at $48 (wander over to the Nars counter, and we all know there are single brushes that cost that much), but don’t reek of stellar quality. My favorite pick from the bunch? The eyeshadow palette in Ludwig, which boasts soft neutral tones that will look great on everyone. I know the Kat Von D collection probably isn’t the place to play it safe when it comes to your makeup, but hey...not all of us can get away looking like a tattoo artist.
